Since 1999 HUGS RECOVERY CENTERS has been providing license treatment services. Pioneering and offering such innovate treatment programs as it Urban Treatment model.
Now HUGS offers a Certified Twelve Step Instructor certification and credentialing for professionals, and/or Para-professionals in the Health Care and Substance Abuse/Mental Health Disorder fields, and/or those desiring to enter into these fields.

WHY BECOME A CERTIFIED TWELVE STEP INSTRUCTOR?
HUGS Behavioral Health Educational Institute has developed this certification and credentialing for professionals, Para-professionals in the Health Care and Substance Abuse/ Mental Health Disorder fields. Because, most Recovery programs and/or Substance Abuse Treatment Centers employ some form of the 12 Step Concept in their programming. Many Health Care providers and professionals encounter individuals in need of recovery from health and/or trauma related problems and conditions. Therefore, it is essential that individuals working within these settings be astute, trained, and knowledgeable of the 12 Step Concept and how to employ it for therapeutic use.

WHAT IS A CERTIFIED TWELVE STEP INSTRUCTOR?
Individuals trained and certified  in the 12 Step Concept, to promote recovery and improving the quality of life for others (who may or may not be) in the recovery process, by instructing them on how to understand and utilize the concepts of the 12 step program in their lives. As a Certified Twelve Step Instructor you will learn the concepts associated with the 12 step program, and how to effectively implement them in daily life practices.

DO I HAVE TO BE IN RECOVERY TO USE THE TWELVE STEP CONCEPT?
No! The 12 Step Concept has proven over time to work successfully with individuals not only recovering from Substance Abuse/Mental Health Disorders, but from medical and traumatic conditions and situations also. The 12 Step Concept can be utilized for personal and spiritual growth as well.

AUTHORIZATION TO PROVIDE THIS CERTIFICATION
HUGS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE and its CERTIFICATION BOARD is self-regulated andNOT directly associated with any Alcoholics Anonymous or 12 Step organizations. In accordance with the 8th Tradition which states:
Alcoholics Anonymous should remain forever nonprofessional, but our centers may employ special workers.

Therefore, HUGS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE is not in violation of this tradition by offering this certification.
HOW DO I BECOME A CERTIFIED TWELVE STEP INSTRUCTOR?

The Certified Twelve Step Instructor course is an on-line Study, Examination, and Certification process.  Applicants must meet the following criteria: Educational (Seeking a Degree; Working towards a Degree; and/or Have a Degree in Mental Health- Substance Abuse/ Addiction- Behavioral Health and/or Human Service related fields). *** Life experience and/or 12 Step recovery experience will be considered as it relates to Education*** Experience(familiar with and/or desire to learn the 12 Step Concept) Ethics (Applicants must agree to sign and abide by NADAAC code of ethics).
This on-line training course provides the credentialing, tools, and resources needed to successfully work with individuals incorporating the (12 Step Concept) in their lives.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A CERTIFIED 12 STEP INSTRUCTOR

As a Certified 12 Step Instructor in Good Standing: you receive a signed Certificate for display (this certificate will be kept on file until expiration) - use this credentialing for employment purposes – use this as verification and credentialing for those you serve as a certified 12 Step Instructor – use this training as a Life Coach/ Recovery Specialist/ CARES - use the designation “CTI” after your name – use this designation on personal resumes and/or business cards – use this credentialing and certification along with this logo on workshop and/or pre-approved training materials – have access to HUGS Behavioral Health Institute Continued Education Information.
